5 Mas o que vocês devem fazer é derrubar os altares dessas nações, quebrar as suas colunas sagradas, cortar os postes da deusa Aserá e queimar as suas imagens de escultura.

5 This is what you are to do to them: Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles That is, wooden symbols of the goddess Asherah; here and elsewhere in Deuteronomy and burn their idols in the fire.
