5 who killed about thirty-six of them. They chased the Israelites from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted in fear and became like water.

5 Os habitantes de Ai chegaram a matar cerca de trinta e seis israelenses e perseguiram todo aquele grupo de soldados de Israel desde a porta da cidade até Shevarim, Pedreiras, e na descida os derrotaram. Diante disto, o coração do povo derreteu, tornou-se como água, e caíram em grande desânimo.
