9 but keep watching it. If it goes up to its own territory, toward Beth Shemesh, then the Lord has brought this great disaster on us. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not his hand that struck us but that it happened to us by chance."

9 Observai atentamente, porém, se o carro tomar o caminho em direção a cidade de Bet-Shémesh, Bete-Semes, isso significa que foi o Deus dos israelitas que, de fato, nos mandou todo este terrível mal. Entretanto, se isso não acontecer, então quer dizer que não foi Ele quem nos castigou com toda esta praga, e sim que ela veio por acaso.
